What is walking?
Walking is simple enough for all fitness levels to achieve. I, for one, know the importance of getting in those steps. Steps equate to points that eventually lead me to gift cards through the help of an app that my employer uses to provide us with insurance discounts. I will discuss how you can use these apps to pay you to walk.
Walking is distinguished from running since only one foot at a time leaves contact with the ground. All animals, regardless of the number of limbs, walk. Even those with two, four, six, eight, or more limbs walk! Imagine that! Walking is the most common and used gait we possess!
Remember when…
Remember the days when you were an infant, just learning to walk? Oh, the struggle, LOL! There were falls, bumps, cuts, scrapes, and ultimately success. But we achieved the goal and are now not giving walking much thought. As we grew, we perfected the art of walking. Our parents were there as each step taken was another step toward independence. It then became something done to move from one area to another.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I lost track of my fitness. I lost track of how beneficial and simple walking was. I started walking the fitness trail at work a few years prior. But this was only a means of escape when I was too frustrated with an issue. I did not realize there was more to “just walking” than I knew. I was not aware of the benefits walking can provide me. I had gained a lot of weight and did not know why. I lacked the essential knowledge of how healthy walking can be for oneself.
