Hi everyone, happy Sunday. Today’s walking-around weather started in the low 40s and was quite cloudy. Once I got out of bed and dressed for a morning walk, it was already in the mid to upper 40s. There are days when it can take a lot of willpower to stay under the blankets and either hide or stay in. Today was another one of those days where it took me more strength to maintain my mindset of walking around. I summoned all my strength and will to help me get out of bed to achieve my goal of a 3-mile walk this morning.
Since it was cold, I knew I had to dress in layers. As we walk, we tend to warm up and soon have the need to remove the additional layers. I know this has happened to me many times while walking around. I know I have made a few bad choices by not checking the weather before leaving the house. Don’t let the weather catch you off guard. You always want to be prepared in case things go south. It is always best to be well-equipped for whatever mother nature may throw at us.
Given the weather, I decided on the simple warm workout-type outfit. I chose Adidas warmups, a t-shirt, a pullover hoodie, and a warm vest. I was all set and ready to head out. Before I departed, there was one last thing left to do. A little warm-up to get the blood flowing and muscles started. While warming up, I thought about where I wanted to walk around at. Since I got up late, I decided to walk around my neighborhood. I set my watch to track my activity and turned on the music.
While walking around the neighborhood, I saw a pair of Blue Jays in the park. Once I grabbed my phone out to take a picture, they were gone. Almost reminisce that old saying, nothing lasts forever. Walking around allows for being one with nature. You can see all the little creatures in this world. As I continued my walk, I soon thought about what will this week bring. Will it be another horrible week? Will I find clarity in my thoughts? Will the troubles of last week boil over to this week? Will I be able to make time to write more on the blog? Walking around soon calmed my thoughts and allowed me to enjoy the nature around me.
The peace and serenity that a simple walk can bring is nature’s medicine for our soul. It can also help bring relaxation and refocus for anyone who may find themselves knee-deep in trouble. Nature and life can help provide us with clarity on what may plague us. All we have to do is be open to it. Life will not stop or slow down for anyone. I realized that the key for me was to take a walk around.
